Current Position: Paul is a professional Company Director and Lawyer

Work Experience:

Paul qualified as a Lawyer in 1966 and worked mainly in commercial law and litigation with an emphasis towards the Mining and Infrastructure Industries. He has extensive contacts in those industries, including the five major companies involved in contract mining in Australia. In 1978 he became First Chief Minister and Attorney General of the Northern Territory and remained active in Northern Territory Politics until 1987, the last 3 years in the Australian House of Representatives.

In that time he:

  • set up in 1978 and administered the new Northern Territory Government with 12000 employees.
  • built new towns at Jabiru (Uranium Province), Palmerston (Darwin Satellite) and Ayers Rock Resort, sold on to Lend Lease Corporation.
  • Developed strong economic ties with Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines.
  • Visited PNG officially as guest of then PM Sir Michael Somare twice.
  • Introduced or was involved in the introduction of new legislation including:
    • The Seas and Submerged Lands Act;
    • National Companies and Securities Scheme;
    • Aboriginal Land Rights Act;
    • The Financial Administration and Audit Act;
    • The Mining Act;
    • The Ombudsman Act;
    • The Northern Territory Criminal Code;
    • Established University of the Northern Territory.

From 1987 - 1992 he was partner in charge of Business Development, Commercial Litigation and Mediation at Brisbane law firm Clarke and Kann. Since 1992 he has carried on his own practice largely in the role of Company Director and or Consultant, specialising in Government Relations, Public issue management, Government business opportunities and problem solving.

Amongst these matters have been 5 projects (on aboriginal land) negotiated with aboriginals involving total expenditure of $A500 million. Resolution of FIRB breaches involving in excess of $A100 million. Since deregulation of the electricity industry, he has played a major role in shaping the competitive regime in the Northern Territory.

Susan Lewis

Qualifications:

  • Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland
  • Bachelor of Law (LLB)
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (BSc), majoring in Medical Biotechnology

Summary:

Susan joined the firm in September 2004, with a number of years experience in the area personal injuries litigation.

Susan was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland on 16 July 2001 , after having completed 2 years articles of clerkship at one of Queensland 's largest personal injury law firms.

Susan has continued to focus her interests in the area of personal injury litigation and practices exclusively in the area. She has extensive experience in the area, including motor vehicle accident claims, public liability claims, criminal compensation claims and workers compensation claims.

Susan also has experience in class actions, having been responsible for the claims of some 300 breast implant recipients involved in an international class action against the manufacturer of such implants, and having been involved in the claims for surviving victims of the Childers Backpackers Hostel tragedy.

Susan is committed to providing excellence in legal services to those who suffer injury or loss through the fault of others.

Aimo Aho

Aimo Aho is an Australian of Finish extraction who has served in many positions in business including as Chief Executive of Industry Groups before taking an interest in and gaining qualification as a migration consultant.

Aimo now practices exclusively as a migration consultant and spends much of his time physically in China with which country he has a special affinity. I would be difficult to find another legal practitioner in Queensland with as much experience in the migration area as Aimo Aho.

Aside from English, Aimo can also speak and translate Finish language.
